I live the life of a typical corporate girlie in Mumbai. I had the idea of going for a wellness retreat for quite a few months, especially after a colleague of mine went for a similar retreat and came back with only good words for the same. So finally, a few weeks ago when I was feeling burnt out, I decided to experience it for myself. After researching a bit for the best wellness retreat packages in India, I finally decided on the SWA wellness retreat on Travel With Jyoti. After enquiring with them about the same, we got to know this retreat is based in Gokarna and consists of yoga sessions and naturopathy to manage stress and rejuvenate our energy. This sounded like exactly what I wanted so I booked it immediately. I also convinced a friend to tag along with me.
We had a pick-up and drop service from Goa airport so we did not have to plan or worry about anything. It was a very pleasant drive with rewarding views and the destination was equally if not more serene. We checked into our quaint Konkan villa and were thoroughly delighted with the arrangements.
The next two days consisted of therapeutic massages, yoga and meditation (pranayam) sessions. We also had a doctor’s consultation about our lifestyle and our food choices to have well-rounded nutrition. It was all about being mindful and recharging our mind and body. Also, I must mention the food there was excellent – the secret sauce was its simplicity. All in all, it was a very transformative experience.
If you’re someone (or you know someone) above the age of 18 and are very busy, wanting to disconnect from your daily chaos and reconnect with nature, I would highly recommend experiencing this for yourself. Wellness retreat packages in India cost a little premium, but it feels completely worth it after you leave with your energies recharged and also with the knowledge of healthier, more mindful practices to deal with the stresses of daily life. I could only do a 3 day retreat this time over a weekend but I’m considering going for the luxury version of this retreat (which is about 7 to 21 days long) next year. Maybe I’ll make this an annual ritual
