The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a standout among Kashmir treks, featuring three stunning alpine lakes, lush meadows, majestic mountains, and the Lidder River. Ideal for beginners, this 7-day trek includes a day for acclimatization at Aru Valley and is best undertaken between June and October.
Starting from the picturesque Aru Valley, 112 km from Srinagar, the 48 km trek offers a mix of ascents and descents. Highlights include the twin lakes, Tarsar and Marsar, known for their breathtaking beauty. Camp by Tarsar Lake and enjoy the magnificent views.
Covering 47.8 km over 6 days of walking, this trek showcases Kashmir’s diverse landscapes and natural beauty, making it a must-do for nature enthusiasts.
Drive from Srinagar to Aru Valley, passing through Pahalgam and along the Lidder River. Arrive at Aru for a welcome drink and briefing by your trek leader. Dinner served at 7 PM.
Begin with a gradual ascent into the jungle, followed by a walk through meadows beside the Lidder River. Cross a bridge to reach the Lidderwat campsite for evening snacks and drinks.
Start with an ascent to higher ground, then walk through the jungle and meadows. Cross a log bridge and navigate a boulder section before reaching the Shekwas campsite.
Trek through boulder and rocky sections, crossing a wooden bridge. Ascend gradually to Tarsar Lake, a beautiful almond-shaped alpine lake. Camp beside the lake.
Ascend to Tarsar Pass for stunning views, then descend through a boulder section to Silent Valley. Continue to Sundersar campsite.
Visit Sundersar Lake, then ascend to Marsar Ridge for views of Marsar Lake. Descend back to Sundersar and continue to Homwas.
Retrace your steps to Aru via Lidderwat. From Aru, take a cab back to Srinagar.
