Embark on the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, one of India’s most stunning and sought-after treks. Known as the “7 Lakes of Kashmir Trek,” this journey takes you through lush meadows, alpine lakes, dense forests, and three high-altitude passes, offering unmatched scenic beauty. Starting from Sonamarg and ending at Naranag, this moderate-to-difficult trek spans 7 days and is ideal for experienced trekkers. Pick-up from Srinagar at noon. Ensure your flight arrives by 12 PM. Drive to Shitkadi Sonamarg, enjoying the scenic Kashmir landscape, villages, and farmlands. Stop by the Sindh River for lunch or a tea break. Arrive at Shitkadi by evening for welcome drinks, snacks, and dinner. Overnight camping at Shitkadi for acclimatization. Briefing by the trek leader.
Note: Stay hydrated, rest well, and avoid smoking or alcohol. Cloakroom facility available for ₹250 per bag.
Wake up at 6 AM, breakfast at 7 AM, and start trekking by 8 AM. Pass through an army post (keep your ID handy). First stop at Tabletop for views of the Thajwas Mountain Range and Amarnath Peak. Trek through a forest patch, then along a river canal to Nichnai. Cross a small stream with the help of guides. Enjoy the scenic trail with maple, birch, and pine trees.
Moderate gradient with long walking hours. Packed lunch provided. Ascend to Nichnai Pass, take regular water breaks. Rest at Nichnai Pass, then descend to a meadow with wildflowers. Reach the campsite beside Vishansar Lake. Relax by the lake and enjoy evening snacks.
Longest and toughest day. Start early with packed lunch and snacks. See Vishansar and Kishansar Lakes. Steep ascent to Gadsar Pass, then descend to Gadsar Meadow. Visit Gadsar Lake. Camp near the lake.
Note: If it rains heavily, the trek may be delayed. Buffer day available at extra cost.
Easy gradient. Ascend to Satsar Meadow, then walk on lush grass. Pass through rocky patches and water-filled grassland. Reach the campsite near a river stream. Show ID at the army camp. Hot lunch at the campsite.
Moderate to difficult. Boulder section dominates the day. Ascend to Zajibal Pass, then descend to Gangabal Valley. See the biggest Satsar Lake. Reach twin lakes: Nundkol and Gangabal. Camp beside Nundkol Lake.
Difficult gradient. Gradual descent through Trunkhol Meadow, then sharp descent through the jungle. Rest at Trunkhol Meadow Hut. Show ID at the last army check post. Steep descent to Naranag. Explore ancient temple ruins if time allows. Cab to Srinagar.
Note: From July to mid-August, leave the campsite early to cross the police check post before 4 PM.
